Target Toy Sale

For those of you who don't know...
Twice every year, Target marks down tons of toys to 70% off so they can make room for their new inventory. This happens in January and July. The July sale is usually they last Thursday in July. I have never shopped the January sale so I'm not positive what day it is. You can go here for more info and ways to track this amazing sale.
For the past two years I have gone with my sister in-law, Holly, and gotten a few little things for E. This year I went all out!

I knew going into this sale that we had plenty extra in this months budget. I decided I would start and finish E's Christmas and Birthday shopping at this sale. I left Ephraim at my moms the night before so I would be free to shop without a fussy little man. Holly and I had planned on meeting at our local target at about 8:15. We wanted to be there early enough to fill our buggies before they started marking down. As I am about to leave the house, yesterday morning, I realize I have left my wallet in the car. The car that my husband has with him at work... In my wallet was all my money, my Target red card (that would get me an extra 5% off my purchase) and a coupon for $5 off a $50 purchase.

I almost stroked out panicked a lot and then went to withdraw some money from the bank. Of course, they don't like you withdrawing money without an i.d., even if  you have your check book and account number...
Luckily, a friend of mine works at out bank and she just happened to be in at 9am. She vouched for me and I got my cash and hurried to meet Holly.

Our target ended up being short handed so they were taking forever to get to the toy markdowns. We hunted down someone in shoes who marked down a few things for us, before she got in trouble with her boss. Oops...
By this time is was after 11 and Holly had to get home to relieve her babysitter. I wasn't satisfied with the four things I had gotten so I headed to another target, on the way to pick up E.

I hit the jack pot at the second Target.

I was able to get all of Ephraim's Christmas and Birthday presents, plus a few Christmas gifts for Holly's girls. My mom and grandparents are going to give him a few things out of this huge stash!
A few of the things we will be saving for next summer, right before our yearly beach trip. I gave him the little coloring board yesterday and he will get the little lamb pillow pet type thing when we switch him to a big boy bed next month.

Happy Birthday Hubs

Monday was the hubs 26th birthday.
He says it's just one more year closer to 30, that he's just getting old. I think he's silly. 26 is young and so is 30. I am just thankful for another year we get to spend together!

While I was antique shopping in the mountains I found this store, that reminded me of a place you'd see on American Pickers. I was about to walk out the door after buying two mason jars when I saw this Avengers poster. The guy told me its from 1970. I didn't really care how old it was, I just knew Stephan would like it so I bought it for $30 and brought it home.

One of Stephan's only requests for this birthday was for us to make cookie cake. When we were dating we used to make and decorate a cookie cake, probably monthly. Back then we would buy a tub of cookie dough, put it in a round pan, add food coloring to store bought icing, and decorate our cake. Now that we're a little more skilled in the kitchen, Steph wanted us to make one from scratch.
This is how it turned out:
The decorating is a little rough.... but it was going on 9pm and we were really just ready to eat a piece.
He seems happy with it :)
This might be the first picture we've taken together since February. Don't judge...
He said he didn't smile for real because there was chocolate in his teeth.

Last night the celebration continued...
We went to see The Dark Night Rises.
Which if anyone hasn't seen it yet, you should. Amazing movie!

After the movie we went to my favorite sushi place (yes I know it's his birthday celebration but he let me pick dinner bc he loves me so much), Rock and Roll Sushi. It was wonderful as usual.

While we were there we took a picture to send to my cousin in California, who was texting me. He didn't want to take a picture, so this is how it turned out. Cute huh?

I hope he had a great birthday!
I love you hunny! :)

Two Posts In One Day... Holy Moly

Today while putting Ephraim in church nursery, I met a sweet lady who said she started reading my blog. I was extremely flattered and then realized how much I have been neglecting the blog. I apologized and told her I would post soon, so hopefully she reads the two I'm posting today.

For mine and Ephraim's birthday, we got a new puppy.
Meet Samson:
(Samson at 7 weeks and 12.5lbs)

(Samson at 11 weeks and 30lbs)

Such a huge difference I cant even believe it. Some day's I feel like while I'm at work he grows 3 inches.
He is so clumsy. It took him 2 weeks to figure out we have a glass door in front of our front door. Silly puppy.

Samson and Lyla (Get it?) get along pretty well. Lyla thinks she is bigger than him even though he is 5X her size.
Ephraim is not so sure of him yet. I think he is a little nervous about how big he is, only because he is big and very playful. Ephraim does really like using Samson as a step stool though.
We are really looking forward to pretty days ahead so we can take the whole family to the park to play.

Ephraim's Party

This post is LONG over due.
It has already been a month since our little man turned ONE. I can not believe it!
He had a wonderful first party filled with lots of wonderful family.
My sweet friend Kristen took all the amazing photos at Ephraim's party. I've known Kristen my whole life and I am so proud of the precious woman she has become! Please consider her when searching for a photographer!
I made Ephraim's caterpillar cupcakes.

And my awesome sister in law made E's amazing smash cake!

Enjoy all the following pictures ...

I know, I know, SO many pictures. I just think that these are the only way to really share how great his party was!

Happy Birthday Ephraim Brite!

Birthday Prep

I seriously can not believe that I am planning Ephraim's first birthday party!
Seems like only yesterday he was tiny
Where does the time go?!
Now he's a whopping 22lbs and 31 1/2in long.

Pinterst has given me some pretty fun ideas for Ephraim's party! The theme will be the very hungry caterpillar. Based off of the book by Eric Carle.
I'll be making cupcakes and shaping them into the caterpillar, a balloon caterpillar banner, and I've already made these invitations.
Nothing too fancy but I am proud of them.
As much as I wanted to have two different parties (one for family and one for friends) the fact is he really isn't going to remember it anyway. So I have settled on doing only one party. Ephraim's first birthday will consist of grandparents, great grandparents and mine and Stephan's siblings. I so hate not inviting everyone in our family but even with the list I have now it is already 30 people. Oh the woes of having such a big family.

Ephraim will be looking spiffy in this shirt
Except I ordered his in red.
See where I ordered it HERE.
I sure hope our little man will enjoy his party!
